Renfrewshire Council is investing in the new facility at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley as part of its multi-million pound Building Better Communities programme.

The authority's aim is to offer a health spa with the same high quality of facilities and wellbeing treatments traditionally found in a private day spa for a fraction of the cost.

The spa will feature steam and aroma rooms, an Arabian Mud Treatment Room, salt inhalation room, heated foot spas and relaxing loungers, monsoon showers and ice features, as well as a coffee shop and lounge area.

Due to open this autumn, it represents the final phase of the £8.5m redevelopment of the leisure centre, which is operated by Renfrewshire Leisure on behalf of the council.

During phase one, which was completed earlier this year, the centre's former ice pad was converted into a gym, twice the size of its original fitness suite, along with new dance studios and conference space as well as a multi-functional area for events, a new range of youth and community programmes and a day care facility for adults with learning disabilities.

Phase two, which is due to complete in June, will modernise the Lagoon Pool with a range of new water features.
