Converting human energy into usable electricity with SportsArt equipment
Supplier: SportsArt
More SportsArt details |
SportsArt Fitness equipment is to be used in academic research to measure how much kinetic energy can be converted into usable electricity that can be wired back into the National Grid.
The company has supplied a 20-station gym at Imperial College’s Hammersmith Hospital site in West London, where the research will be carried out. The gym will include the company’s range of ‘Eco-Powr’ cardiovascular equipment which, through invertors, can convert human energy back into usable electricity.
The research, which is believed to be a first for a UK university, will measure the usage of the machines by both Imperial students and staff. It will begin in September 2014 and is expected to be completed by Christmas.
